Resident Services

Resident Services include:

Translation Services provided through Language Line Services. This service is available by telephone or at the office to all our residents. We do have a staff member that is fluent in Creole and French.

YMCA located on the Property of Willis Ave. Development at the Community Center Monday – Friday 2-6PM helping the children with their homework or just a safe place to hang out. Computers are available.

FSS Coordinator

The Family Self Sufficiency (FSS) program is voluntary and available to all Housing Choice Voucher recipients. The program provides assistance and support to families interested in working toward their own”employment based” goals over a five (5) year period.

The focus is to find a way for each family to increase their earned income. FSS participants are eligible for an escrow account through the Housing Authority when their earned income increases. This account can grow monthly over the five (5) years and is rewarded to the family TAX FREE when goals have been accomplished and the household members are independent of cash welfare benefits.

Many families remain on housing assistance upon completing the program but homeownership preparation is often a final goal and numerous families are referred to our Section 8 Homeownership Program during their participation in FSS.

ROSS - Service Coordinator

Resident Opportunity for Self-Sufficiency (ROSS) program is available to all residents of federally funded public housing properties.

The goal of the program is to enable families to make progress toward achieving economic self- sufficiency through educational opportunities, literacy, and job training opportunities.

Our Resident Services Coordinator also works with elders and persons with disabilities, enabling them to maintain independence in their homes and help improve living conditions by providing information and linking residents with available resources.
